An ideal trip for a weekend break combined with fine dining.
Day 1: Arrival in Iceland.
Flight from selected airport to Keflavik/Iceland. Shuttle transfer to a 3* hotel in Reykjavik (45 minutes). The evening is free. If you wish, we can book a table at Restaurant Perlan for you.
Day 2: Full day excursion - Golden Circle
On the Golden Circle Gullfoss-Geysir tour you can walk around the world-famous Geysir geothermal area, a geothermal field where hot springs are in abundance, geysers explode and pools of mud bubble. One of the Golden Circle’s many highlights is the Gullfoss waterfall, the queen of Iceland‘s waterfalls. The tour ends with the no less spectacular Thingvellir National Park. This is the original site of the oldest existing parliament in the world. The great Atlantic Rift is clearly visible, a rift that is slowly pulling Iceland apart along tectonic plates.
Day 3: Half day excursion - Blue Lagoon
The Blue Lagoon is a unique geothermal spa situated in the youngest lava field in west Iceland. The water’s temperature is 37-39°C / 98-102°F. The lagoon holds six million litres of geothermal sea water, which is renewed every 40 hours. Regular sampling shows that “common” bacteria do not thrive in this ecosystem, thus additional cleansers such as chlorine are not needed. Once there, you have many recreational options, such as walking in the Blue Lagoon’s spectacular surroundings and bathing in the milky blue-green water (entrance fee included). In the evening enjoy a fine dinner and glass of wine in one of Reykjaviks bars, check out the nightlife and see what`s on in Reykjavik!
Day 4: Option 4x4 Superjeep Tour to highland Landmannalaugar
This is not just a trip for those interested in geology – anyone with a love of nature and stunning landscapes should join us on our visit to the highlands. Before reaching Landmannalaugar, head to Mount Hekla. Drive to magnificant Thjórsárdalur. Stop at a volcanic crater, now filled with a cobalt-blue lake, Ljótipollur.. At Landmannalaugar, colourful rhyolite mountains fill the views and evidence of geothermal activity is everywhere with lava flows, hot springs and naturally-heated rivers crisscrossing the land at every turn.Take the opportunity to bathe in this naturally-heated water then take a walk on ash through the extensive lava fields that lead to the mountainous slopes. Visit Frostastaðavatn, a beautiful blue lake flanked by moss-covered lava flows and strange rock formations. The mighty Superjeep is at home here amongst even mightier scenery and the spectacular views you‘ll experience on this tour will stay with you forever.
