Landmannalaugar is a very colorful rhyolitic volcanic area in the Torfajökull Caldera. Impressive for all outdoor admirers; geology/geography interested, photographers, hikers, and the natural geothermal pond bath fans!
We will stay approximately 2 hrs. in the area of Landmannalaugar (the warm springs of the people from the “Land” district), as a part of the Fjallabak nature reserve.
On our Landmannalaugar tour we pass through the fertile and cultivated southern countryside and the historical Thjorardalur valley with the Saga Age Farm. We will see a variety of craters and volcanoes in a Moon-like landscape and drive on mountain trails through the very recent ash, pumice and lava fields, erupted by the most famous and active volcano of Iceland, Mt. Hekla..
