South Shore

Iceland ProTravel picture

We drive along the stunning South coast of Iceland, famous for Volcanoes, Glaciers, Waterfalls and the main region for farming. There is a new Lava Centre in the South of Iceland which is an interactive and high tech educational exhibit. Here you will learn about volcanic activity, earthquakes and how they have made Iceland over millions of years. We make stops at the spectacular waterfalls Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss and then onwads to the black sandy beaches of Reynisfjara close to the village of Vik. We take a walk on the black sands and admire extraordinary rock formations and thundering waves of the Atlantic Ocean. Please be careful as these waves are very dangerous. Dinner and overnight stay in Kirkjubaejarklaustur area.

Skaftafell national park and glacial lagoon

Jökulsarlon

Today is all about glaciers. We head to the area of Vatnajokull national park, by the biggest glacier in Europe. The Skaftafell region in the park boosts of natural beauty and breathtaking scenery with walking routes to enjoy. The tour then continues to Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon where the giant icebergs float in the lagoon. Back to hotel for dinner and overnight.

Hveragerdi - Blue Lagoon

Relaxing at the Blue Lagoon

Driving back along the coast we head to the village of Hveragerdi. The village is located in a geothermal area and uses the energy to hear its many greenhouses. We follow the coastline to the Reykjanes peninsula where we visit the famous Blue Lagoon situated in the vast lava field of the peninsula. After a nice relaxing bath in the lagoon we return to the capital for  you last evening in Iceland. Evening is at your own leisure and dinner is on your own, with many restaurants to choose from.
