City Breaks New Year´s - Classic

Upon arrival at Keflavík Airport, take a shuttle bus to your hotel in Reykjavík. Spend the rest of the day exploring the city’s many highlights at your own pace. Visit Hallgrímskirkja, one of the city’s most iconic landmarks, where you can enjoy panoramic views from the tower. Stroll around Tjörnin Pond, a peaceful area surrounded by nature that offers a calm atmosphere in the heart of the city. Explore the Old Harbour Reykjavík, a lively district rich in maritime history, filled with shops, cafés, and local culture. Don’t miss Harpa Concert Hall, the striking glass concert hall known for its distinctive architecture and cultural events. In the evening, join a Northern Lights tour for a chance to see the aurora borealis dance across the night sky. You will travel from the city into the Icelandic countryside with experienced guides who monitor weather and aurora forecasts to find the best possible viewing conditions. If the lights are not visible, you can try again by joining another tour free of charge. Please note that sightings are never guaranteed, as they depend on weather and solar activity.

Begin your tour at Friðheimar, a sustainable greenhouse powered by geothermal energy, where tomatoes are grown year-round. Learn about Iceland's eco-friendly farming methods and, if you wish, sample locally produced tomato specialties (optional).

Continue to the Geysir Geothermal Area, where the active Strokkur geyser erupts every 4–8 minutes, sending boiling water up to 30 metres into the air. Explore the surrounding landscape of steaming vents, bubbling hot springs, and colourful geothermal pools.

Next, visit the spectacular Gullfoss waterfall, where the Hvítá River plunges in two stages into a dramatic canyon. On sunny days, the mist often creates beautiful rainbows.

The tour ends at Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walk through the rift valley between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates and discover the historic site of Alþingi, the world's oldest parliament.

Spend the day at your leisure, exploring Reykjavík at your own pace or adding an optional activity. In the evening, a private transfer will take you to a festive New Year’s Eve celebration dinner, where you will enjoy a delicious 4-course meal in a warm and welcoming atmosphere, the perfect start to an unforgettable night. The restaurant is centrally located, just a few minutes’ walk from downtown Reykjavík, where you will find numerous viewpoints to watch the city’s famous midnight fireworks.

After dinner, you can step outside to join the locals as the sky lights up in colour, or wander into the city centre to soak up the vibrant New Year’s atmosphere. When you are ready, simply stroll back to your hotel at your own pace.
