From West to North

After breakfast, we visit an old lava field, formed in giant eruption and climb a volcanic crater. It's an easy hike and from the top, you get really nice views of the valley. We continue through the scenic landscapes of the northwest. Next stop is Akureyri, Iceland's second largest town, nestled between mountains. After this we explore one of the most spectacular sights in Iceland, Goðafoss “the waterfall of the Gods”. Overnight in Northeast Iceland for two nights.

Whale watching, geological wonders and nature baths

Myvatn Nature Bath

Husavik is a great place to go whale watching, in fact it's called the the "whale capital" of Iceland! So we do that, and then explore the Lake Mývatn area, known for it's unique landscapes. Mývatn is a fertile lake with extensive areas of geothermal heat, this makes it ideal for bird life. Around 120 species of birds have been recorded at Mývatn. In the area you will find alien landscapes with fumaroles and boiling, bubbling mud pots in various colours. We enjoy a walk through the bizarre lava field of Dimmuborgir. The day ends with a soak in a realxing bath at the Mývatn Nature Baths.

From North to east

Today we explore the geothermal field of Námaskarð and the Krafla caldera. The raw unworldly beauty of Námaskarð and its surroundings defies all comparisons. Next you get to see the monstrous Dettifoss, Europe’s most powerful waterfall. You may have seen Dettifoss in the Hollywood blockbuster Prometheus. After this eventful day we head to the East of Iceland where we spend the night.

Fjords, Glaciers and Ice

Glacier at Skaftafell

We drive through the various fishing villages of the tranquil East Fjords. The ancient landscapes of the east consist of long, narrow fjords with steep sides and jagged mountain peaks. We reach Vatnajokull glacier- Europe’s biggest, it covers covers about 8% of Iceland. We continue past the town of Höfn and enjoy a boat tour on Jokulsarlon glacial lagoon.  Overnight near Skaftafell in South East Iceland.

Vatnajokull National park and the south

We walk along the famous black lava beach Reynisfjara and the bird cliffs near the village of Vík. Next to the impressive Skogarfoss we learn about Iceland’s history at the Skógar folk museum. This is a cultural heritage collection of 15,000 regional artifacts exhibited in 6 historical buildings. Overnight in South Iceland.

The Golden circle to Reykjavik

Strokkur at the Geysir area

Today we visit Iceland's most famous attractions, The Golden Circle. We start by visiting the majestic Gullfoss the “Golden Waterfall”. Haukadalur, the geothermally active area of Geysir. Here, Strokkur “the churn” spouts up boiling water every five to eight minutes. Last but not least is Thingvellir national park, a UNESCO world heritage, a location of historical significance and unique geology. We now return to the Capital, Reykjavik, where we stay overnight.
