After breakfast, meet your guide and begin with the Volcano Express at Harpa—an immersive experience that lets you feel the power of Iceland’s volcanic forces, from earthquakes to erupting lava. Leave Reykjavík and explore the Hengill volcanic system, one of Iceland’s largest geothermal areas, before continuing to Þingvellir National Park (UNESCO), where you can walk between two tectonic plates. Visit the Geysir geothermal field and the impressive Gullfoss waterfall. In Laugarvatn, enjoy fresh rye bread baked in natural geothermal heat—delicious with Icelandic butter and smoked Arctic trout. Travel along the South Coast, passing fertile volcanic farmland shaped by Hekla and Eyjafjallajökull. Stop at the stunning waterfalls Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss, both perfect for photos. In summer, keep an eye out for seabirds, including puffins. End the day in Vík, Iceland’s southernmost village, where long summer evenings and the midnight sun create beautiful golden light. Dinner and overnight in the Vík area.
After breakfast, explore the Katla UNESCO Geopark, known for its black sands and glacier‑covered volcano. Visit Reynisfjara beach with its striking basalt columns and powerful Atlantic waves. Continue into the Lakagígar region and cross the vast Eldhraun lava field, created by the historic Laki eruption. Enter Vatnajökull National Park and the Öræfajökull volcanic area before reaching Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon. Enjoy views of drifting icebergs and a boat tour, then stop at the shimmering Diamond Beach. Discover the scenic Skaftafell area, framed by glaciers and volcanic peaks. Return to Vík for an evening at Smiðjan Brugghús with beer tasting and Icelandic barbecue, followed by a gentle midnight‑sun walk (weather permitting). Dinner and overnight in the Vík area.
After breakfast, travel back along the scenic South Coast, enjoying new views of Iceland’s summer landscapes. Return to the Hengill volcanic region and visit Hveragerði, known as “The Flower Village” for its geothermal greenhouses powered by the volcano beneath it. Continue to a nearby horse farm to meet the friendly Icelandic horses, a historic Viking breed. Enjoy petting them, taking photos, and sampling traditional sweet farm refreshments. Follow the southern coastal road toward the Reykjanes Peninsula, entering the final volcanic region of your journey: Fagradalsfjall. This UNESCO Geopark is shaped by the Mid‑Atlantic Ridge and several recent eruptions, creating surreal lava landscapes you’ll see along the way. End your tour with a relaxing soak in the famous Blue Lagoon, surrounded by black lava fields and mineral-rich geothermal water. Return to Reykjavík, where your guide says farewell at your hotel.
