After enjoying a hearty breakfast, we will meet our guide in the hotel lobby and make our way to our first stop: the impressive Aurora Reykjavik Northern Lights Centre. There, we will receive a detailed introduction to the Northern Lights and learn the best methods for photographing or filming them.
Following this, we will head to Thingvellir National Park, where we will visit the oldest parliament in the world, the Althing. Another highlight in the national park is the fissure between the Eurasian and North American continental plates, which visitors can walk through. Our next destination will be the geothermal area of the geysers. Not only can we witness bubbling mud puddles, but we can also observe the famous Strokkur geyser spouting an impressive fountain of water every few minutes. We will then proceed to the magnificent Gullfoss waterfall, which partially freezes over in winter, creating a unique sight.
The rest of the day will be spent in the town of Laugarvatn, where we will visit a geothermal bakery and have the opportunity to sample fresh bread straight from the ground. Dinner and overnight accommodations will be in South Iceland. If the weather is favorable, our guide will take us on a hunt for the Northern Lights.
