Reykjavik - Reykholt - Borgarnes

The day starts with a sightseeing tour of Reykjavik. We will visit the Harpa concert hall and see it’s amazing architecture, the parliament, the harbour district, Hallgrimskirkja church and more. After exploring Reykjavik we travel northwest thought the underwater tunnel in Hvalfjordur and head to the village of Akranes. We will visit a museum in Akranes and one of  the lighthouses with magnificent views on the coastline. We continue to Europe’s most powerful hot spring, Deildartunughver and visit Reykholt and the Hraunfossar waterfalls. Stay overnight in the Borgarnes area.

Snaefellsnes peninsula

Viking sushi

We have breakfast at the hotel before heading to the charming town of Stykkisholmur. We will board a boat to sail in the Breidarfjordur Bay, filled with thousands of tiny islands and experience the “Viking Sushi” which consists of sea scallops, urchin and crab freshly drawn onto the boat. We continue exploring the peninsula on land travelling along the rugged coastline with its secluded fishing villages such as Grundarfjordur, Hellnar and Arnarstapi with basalt rock formations and cliffs and home to many seabirds. We return to Borgarnes in the evening for dinner and Northern lights hunt.

The Golden Circle

Strokkur in winter

Today we visit some of Iceland’s most famous attractions, the Golden Circle. This includes the Geysir hot spring area, the Golden Waterfall Gullfoss and Thingvellir national park, a UNESCO world heritage site. Travelling through the fertile farmlands we enjoy some local produce at Efsti Dalur farm. Continue to Hveragerdi, the geothermal greenhouse village providing Icelanders with local grown fruit and vegetables. Dinner and overnight in the area.

Reykjanes - Blue Lagoon

The Blue Lagoon

We travel along the coast of the Reykjanes peninsula and visit Strandakirkja, a small wooden church believe to have special powers for luck and success. The journey continues to Lake Kleifarvatn with its powerful geothermal activity. You can see hot springs, mud pools and boiling pools in beautiful surroundings. Next up is Grindavik, the main fishing village on the peninsula where we have a lunch break before heading to the Blue lagoon. We will take a soak in the milky blue waters surrounded by a lava field before heading to Reykjavik for the last evening in Iceland. Dinner is on your known with plenty of great restaurants to choose from.

Depending on flight time you can spend some time in the capital before taking the transfer from your hotel to Keflavik airport.
