Arrival in Iceland

Arrival at Keflavik Airport, transfer to your hotel in Reykjavik for the first night. Depending on arrival time you can visit the famous Blue lagoon en route to Reykjavik.
Iceland is a wonderful destination for adventure hiking. The great trails take you close to the nature. You will join a small group with a guide and enjoy hiking the famous trails as well as the lesser know ones. The tour offers a combination of activity and sightseeing. You will have plenty of time to relax in natural hot pools and enjoy the Icelandic cuisine.
Arrival at Keflavik Airport, transfer to your hotel in Reykjavik for the first night. Depending on arrival time you can visit the famous Blue lagoon en route to Reykjavik.
Enjoy your breakfast and then meet your guide and group. The day begins with a city-sightseeing tour of Reykjavik. We travel along the picturesque coast of Hvalfjordur Fjord, "Whale Fjord" Here we will hike up to Glymur, Iceland's highest waterfall and enjoy the scenery. After this we visit the stunning Hraunfossar "Lava falls". Next stop is the Deildartunguhver hot springs area. This is the most powerful hot spring in Europe. Dinner and overnight in Borgarfjordur.
Today you will do some exploration of Borgarfjördur on foot. See the beautiful waterfall Glanni, said to be a dwelling place of elves and trolls. Next you get to climb the Grabrók crater. It's only a short hike up the crater but the views from there are fantastic. During your hike, you will see stunning moss covered lava fields. The journey continues across the Holtavorduheidi plateau to Vididalur valley. There you will hike in the lava canyon Kolugljufur. It leads to a hidden waterfall. You will stay in the Siglufjordur area for 2 nights.
Today we visit the wonderful Herring Era Museum of Iceland. This large maritime museum is one of a kind and won the European Museum Award in 2004, as Europe's best new museum of industry and technology.
A local guide will join the group for a hike to the Siglufjardarskard Pass. The trail was a horse riding path for farmers to pass over the mountain to Siglufjordur. If you are not up for a hike today you can stay in Siglufjordur and enjoy the scenic areas around the village.
The day ends with a visit to a home of a local resident where you get to try a lovely home-cooked meal made with local ingredients.
Overnight in Siglufjordur, where you can enjoy the hotel’s geothermal hot tubs.
After breakfast the day starts with a short visit to Akureyri, the capital of the North. The tour continues to Myvatn where you will see Godafoss, ‘Waterfall of the Gods’ on the way. The Lake Myvatn Nature Reserve, is a famous geological wonderland of wildly contrasting nature of hot springs and rich bird life. Lake Myvatn and surroundings are ideal for light hiking with breathtaking scenery. Dimmuborgir rock gardens offers nice walking routes. Next we will hike up to Mt. Leirhnjukur hot spring area, which is part of the Krafla volcanic area, then continue to the Namaskard geothermal field You will get the option to bathe in the Myvatn Nature Baths where you can see how the locals benefit from the geothermal activity.
Dinner and overnight will be in the Myvatn area.
Today we will travel around the Tjornes Peninsula that sits on the edge of the Arctic Circle, en route to the canyon of Asbyrgi National Park. The unique shape of the rocks in the canyon create an interesting acoustics and echoes, which the cliffs derive their name from. You will walk the routes of the national park and experience the beauty and echoes of the canyon yourself. The remainder of the afternoon we will spend exploring the vegeation and forest areas of Hlodaklettar. En route back to Myvatn we will visit Europe's mightiest waterfall, Dettifoss. The waterfall is a thundering cascade of glacial water running throguh the valley Jokulsargljufur.
Dinner and overnight will be in the Myvatn area.
After breakfast we head for the mountain route of Kjolur, passing through the middle of Iceland. You will see the true remoteness and raw nature of Iceland on this route. There are many scenic walking routes in the area of black sand deserts, geothermal treaseues and green oases.We will stop at Hveravellir, to relax in a multi-coloured geothermal natural pool. The Kjolur highland route emerges into civilization again in the Haukadalur valley where you find the famous hot spring area of Geysir and Gullfoss, the majestic "Golden" waterfall.
Dinner and overnight in the Hella area in South Iceland.
After breakfast in the hotel, we head out for day in the highland area of Landmannalaugar. The wilderness of Landmannalaugar and Fjallabak reveal many geological influences in volcanic craters, multi coloured rhyolite mountains, lava fields, Hekla volcano and more. The area has many beautiful walking trails and a crater-filled lake lush with brown trout. Enjoy a ralexing bath in the natural hot pools after a day exploring this fascinating area.
Overnight in the Hella area.
Thorsmork Nature Reserve is a paradise for nature lovers, named after the God Thor. This hidden valley is situated between two glaciers and protected by rivers and mountains. On the way to Thorsmork, we make a stop at Seljalandsfoss waterfall, where you can gain a different perspective by walking behind the cascading water. When in Thorsmork, walk along marked trails in the beautiful scenery of delicate trees and green grass surrounded by towering mountains and glacial tongues. The tour ends in Reykjavik after a beautfiul day in Thorsmork.
Overnight stay in Reykjavik.
Depending on you flight time you can enjoy your last morning in Reykjavik or visit the Blue Lagoon on your way to Keflavik airport if you have not been upon arrival.
