Driving the Sheep IN NÚPASVEIT

Icelandic Sheep

Early in the morning, we meet a local farmer and his dog, who will be on hand to help and advise us during the drive. Today we ride through an area characterised by its rich vegetation and many small lakes. In the late afternoon, we leave the sheep and our horses at an abandoned mountain hut and drive to the farm to relax over a hearty dinner. (approx. 22 miles).

The north coast of the Melrakkasletta peninsula almost touches the Arctic Circle and is a paradise for birdwatchers and geology enthusiasts. This is where the North American and Eurasian plates are drifting apart. The participants drive the sheep to Katastadarettpferch on horseback. Return and overnight stay at Bjarnastadir farm. (approx. 18 miles).

Sorting the Sheep
