ARRIVAL – BLUE LAGOON – REYKJAVIK

The Blue Lagoon

Fly to Iceland and collect your rental car on arrival at Keflavik International Airport. Dive into the geothermal waters of the Blue Lagoon before heading to your accommodation in Reykjavik. A visit to the Blue Lagoon geothermal spa could be a good start on your stay in Iceland. Guests renew their relationship with nature, soak up the scenic beauty and enjoy breathing the clean, fresh air while relaxing in the warm geothermal seawater. Please note that admission to the Blue Lagoon needs to be booked ahead, and entrance is not included in this offer. Enjoy your evening in the city.

THE GOLDEN CIRCLE

erupting Geysir ©Buehler Buechi

Drive to the World Heritage Site of Thingvellir National Park. This is the location of Iceland‘s original parliament. Enjoy views across the clear waters of Lake Thingvallavatn. Visit the thundering Gullfoss waterfall and famous Geysir geothermal area, where the geyser of Strokkur regularly erupts and numerous other hot springs bubble and steam. Nearby Laugarvatn area, we can recommend stop at the farm Efstidalur. Here you can enjoy a nice lunch or dinner or just have a taste of homemade ice cream. Drive to your cottage in this area, where you will stay for 3 nights.

REYKJADALUR AND THE SECRET LAGOON

Gullfoss

If the weather allows, you can start the day with a half a day hike to the smoked valley of Reykjadalur. The valley is one of the most popular and perhaps most beautiful hiking areas in and around the town of Hveragerði. Hot springs and colorful areas full of geothermal activity entertain you along a hiking trail leading to a warm river. Rivers temperature is perfect for swimming, but you have to walk for about 50-70 minutes to reach the first place that is warm enough to dip in. The longer you hike, the warmer it will be. This is a fantastic nature experience. Do not forget your swimwear and towel. After the hike, you can drive to the farm of Fridheimar and enjoy lunch in a warm green house, surrounded by tomato plants. Not fare from Fridheimar you find the geothermal pool Gamla Laugin, or Secret Lagoon. Soak down to the warm water and if you are lucky and daylight is gone, the green lights of the aurora borealis will dance for you in the skies.

SOUTH COAST

Seljalandsfoss

Take a day-tour by the coast, driving to the east. On the route to Vik, the southernmost town in Iceland make sure you stop at Seljalandsfoss and Skogarfoss. These are two of Iceland's loveliest waterfalls. You can walk to the back of Seljalandsfoss. On the way, you to Vik you will pass Eyjafjallajökull glacier and the area evacuated in the large volcano eruption in 2010. At Vik, you will find Reynisfjara, Reynisdrangar and Dyrholaey. Reynisfjara is a black lava beach that has amazing basalt rock formations. Outside the sea, you can see the basalt-shaped pillars Reynisdrangar. Dyrholaey is a small peninsula at Reynisdrangar. Here you should take pictures of the amazing views of the coast. Return to you cabin.
